Florida High School Seeks Television Equipment

08.22.2008

A high school in Florida had built a studio in which to teach film and television production, and even hired a teacher. Now all it needs is some equipment.

The Pine School in Hobe Sound, Fla., has a large soundproof multi-use area, a separate control room area with a large window into the studio, and another small room—all sitting unused. So the school hopes to pick up used equipment for free or at a low cost, and it hopes broadcasters around the country will offer up some gear they might not need.

The school’s wish list includes two Panasonic HVX 200 cameras plus FireWire, a FireStore 100 GB hard drive and tripod; an Apple G5 w minimum of 2 GB; Final Cut Pro Studio; lighting gear; a switcher; graphics equipment; a modulator; a soundboard; and mics.

“Our students are very excited about getting the studio up and running,” said Tim Rowe, a curriculum consultant at the school.

He said some donations may be tax-deductible. He can be reached at (772) 546-3714 or e-mailed at n67b5t@aol.com.
